As the rain glistened overhead, my spirit seemed to come alive. Let the dew wet my soul. Allow me to be one with the music of this world.

My Take

It is a rainy, cold day in Nairobi today. My play list this morning incorporated a lot of slow melodies. Working as a radio presenter who gets to mix up the play list can be exhilarating. Especially on mornings where you really don’t want to be greeted by shrieking drum beats at 7 a.m.

This weather literally grips me in its chilled claws and props me upon a reflective mood. I love it! Makes the writer within wake up and smell the cold coffee mixed with stray rain drops.

Now, it has been a while since I posted about what my life looks like at the moment. What can I say about 2016? It has been such a roller coaster of adventures, emotions and experiences. There are times when I think it has been the best and worst year of my life in many ways. This blog allows me to reflect on a number of things, including the choices I have made.

Getting back to my “progress report” for this year – I am elated to have graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism this August! I managed an honors pass too, so it has a nice silver lining to it. As much as this has been a cause for continual celebrations, it got my stuck in a rut. There were so many decisions to be made. A path to set out upon. A step higher to climb – firstly, to figure out what this step even is!

My hyperactive brain cells put me in a pressure cooker of sorts which kept whistling shrilly in my subconscious. “What are you doing with your life???” it kept singing at me. I’ll say this for graduates – we have a world of options, but a very limited perspective to start with. I was so focused on the traditional route the world dictates that it was stressing my mind enormously. It was not until I attended a slew of random job interviews, read philosophical quotes on Instagram and spoke at lengths to my loved ones that I realized one very simple rule of thumb; Follow your passion and it will feed the flames of progress you desire.

Well, Adulting lesson one appears to be complete! I’ll keep you posted on more 🙂

P.S: My other ventures include a new Fashion blog you can check out here:-

Bye for now!

So close it appears, yet so far away it seems.

Bring me to my destiny, fulfill my dream.

With shut eyes and pounding heart, I reach forward.

Don’t let it pass. Breathe in the melody of the song. The tune emitting from your soul.

Dance in the rain, bleed out your pain and just reach out…
